Nobel Prize Laureates Thomas Mann and Günter Grass have left a legacy of high literary value for Lübeck. But other writers have also characterised the literary history of Lübeck. Especially the local literature comes to the fore during the anniversary year - a good reason to give special attention to it at the HanseKulturFestival. Some authors present their own works, some make use of other authors' works. But the written word always becomes an experience.

The Hanseatic people of Lübeck present the medieval life in Lübeck of the 15th century. Merchants show their goods and demonstrate which problems and challenges they had to deal with when trading with their partners in other countries. The pharmacy "Ratsapotheke" presents their miracle cure. he simple folk tells you about their daily life as well, while the city guard makes sure everything goes is according to the rules.
