Nordic Film Days Lübeck

Ever since 1956, the Nordic Film Days Lübeck have been a fixture in Lübeck’s cultural calendar. In 1971, the film festival was taken over by the town, and since then it has been staged by the Hanseatic City of Lübeck together with the film institutes of Nordic and Baltic countries around the first weekend of Novemberms. The Nordic Film Days Lübeck delight a broad audience with their exciting programme and they are an inspiring meeting point for the film sector from Germany and Northern and North Eastern Europe. The festival is a must for all who love the Baltics and cinema. Unique films in the original language – with subtitles, of course, just in case your Icelandic or Faroese have grown a little rusty...

Here is what awaits you at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck

Feature films, documentaries and short films from Scandinavia, the Baltics, Finland and Iceland – at this festival for audiences, you will experience the full range of Nordic cinematic art. Guests can play an active role in seminars, discussions, round tables, exhibitions and concerts, entering into a direct dialogue with the artists. The Nordic Film Days Lübeck are aimed at all age groups. For example, there is an extensive programme for children and adolescents. Since 2016, the section for series is given the space to present its wares as is the genre for retrospectives which shines a spotlight on important eras of history, certain genres or important personalities of cinematic history.
