The bicycle path along the Baltic Sea shore takes you over 452 kilometres from Travemünde to the Danish border. From Travemünde you head towards Niendorf, a dreamy fishing and farming village. Then you continue on to the Timmendorf beach. Once there, you can either saunter on the magnificent beach promenade and take a break at one of the cafés, or you can visit the Sea Life Centre. You continue your ride along the Baltic Sea shore past Neustadt, Grömitz, Kellenhusen and Dahme, stopping and resting anywhere, any time you like. Or you can interrupt your ride to visit the Hansapark in Sierksdorf - here you'll find fun and action for the entire family. Continue on to the sunny island of Fehmarn, boasting the highest number of sunshine hours per year in all of Germany. This is the ideal place for you to relax for a few hours and soak in the sun. You can, of course, go ahead and spend a day at Weißenhäuser Strand, or even in California and Brazil. Weißenhäuser Strand in particular offers a dune scenery unique in the Baltic Sea.
From Fehmarn, cycle along the shore, past the Bay of Hohwacht, Schönberg and Laboe, until you reach the state capital, Kiel, where you can view the superb ships moored at the harbour. Once a year, the Kiel Week takes place, featuring a sailing regatta and a entire program surrounding the sailing event. It is definitely worth a visit. From Kiel, cycle on towards Eckernförde with its fishing port and old part of town, both well worth seeing. It is not far from Eckernförde to Damp, where you should pay a visit to the "Aqua Tropicana". This bar offers Hawaiian-style flair on the Baltic Sea. Crossing the swing-bridge at the Schlei takes you to Kappeln, its narrow alleyways and its harbour museum. A splendiferous place to stroll about. Now you are approaching the end of your bicycle tour. Riding past Gelting and Langballig, you eventually enter Flensburg. The Wasserschloss in Glücksburg is definitely worth seeing here.
