The Casino Travemünde has been the meeting place for soldiers of fortune and night owls for more than 170 years. When Travemünde became the official entrance to the Baltic Sea its name resounded throughout the land. Rich noblemen, famous poets and scandalous rakes arrived with the steamers from Copenhagen and Saint Petersburg. They enjoyed the healing power of the seaside resort during the day and its electrifying gambling atmosphere at night.
In 1914 the Casino was inaugurated as “house of conversation” and its rooms used for concerts, restaurants and a library. It received a gambling licence in 1949 and began its golden era as gaming house. Meeting place for the young republic’s celebrity, it soon became famous and its restaurant first address for culinary offers at the West-German Coast.
Now, this glamorous era is alive again. In its art nouveau-hall you can play the tables and the roulette or have a cool drink at the bar while enjoying the view of the sea. The COLUMBIA Hotel Casino is situated in the same building and offers a variety of luxurious rooms and suites as well as a spacious wellness-area.
