Let yourself be transported into the secret world of alleyways. This city tour shows you the hidden, second face of Lübeck: It opens, so to speak, the back door to the world of alleys and courtyards.

Lübeck Time Travel - from "Hellgrüner Gang" to the "Grützmacherhof"
Duration approx. 90 minutes without visits (not a guided tour):

Town Hall, Hellgrüner Gang, Dunkelgrüner Gang, Füchtingshof, Glandorpsgang, Grützmacherhof and Blohms Gang

The tour starts at the Town Hall: Walk north along the "Breite Straße" and turn left into the "Engelsgrube", named after Lübeck's English trading partner from the Hanseatic period. From there, you will reach the "Engelswisch" on the right: a low round arch leads from number 28 into the "Hellgrüner Gang". This opens into the street "An der Untertrave". A few steps further to the right will take you to the "Dunkelgrüner Gang" and back to the "Engelswisch". At its end, follow the "Großen Altefähre" to the right into the "Kleine Burgstraße" over the "Koberg" and turn right into "Königstraße". Just beyond this, go right into the "Glockengießerstraße". Two of the loveliest social institutions in Lübeck are here: The Füchtingshof from 1639 and the Glandorpsgang founded in 1612. Turn right from the "Glockengießerstraße" into the "Tünkenhagen" and aim towards the tower of St. Giles'. Continue along the "St.-Annen-Straße", exploring the other alleys, for example, the "hell" of the small "Fegefeuer" street. Once at the Cathedral, follow the "Hartengrube" on the right and turn left into the "Großen Bauhof", then left again into the "Effengrube". There is a passageway opening in house Number 16 taking you to "Grützmacherhof". Number 18 leads you into "Blohms Gang". Walk along this until you reach the exit into the street "An der Obertrave".

Now, you have probably circled the entire city - without even noticing it!

Please bear in mind on your city walk that these alleys are lived in, so please respect their privacy.
