STREET FESTIVALS

Residents know each other well in the newly built founding quarter. So, it's no wonder that many street and courtyard communities have come together to celebrate and create something unique for you - be it a flea market or a coffee klatch with background music. Every street has its own character, which is always actively shaped and represented by the people who live in it. Stop by and get to know those that live in our special Old Town streets and courtyards!

The Founding Quarter
Braunstraße • Fischstraße • Alfstraße • Mengstraße • Neue Querstraße • Gerade Querstraße • Einhäuschenquerstraße

This year’s host neighbourhood in Lübeck – the Founding Quarter – is excited to get to know you better. The former merchants’ quarter, in the shadow of the majestic St. Mary’s Church, was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. Now, it shines in new, modern splendour, blending in with the historical architecture of the district. Numerous historical tours of the district await you, as well as interesting cellar tours that provide insights into the archaeological work that preceded the redevelopment of the founding district. The streets become a lively stage for music, dancing, children’s interactive programmes and culinary delights.

Lübeck's Club Mile
Fri.-Sun., all day ● An der Untertrave (Fischergrube to Beckergrube)

Not everyone is fortunate enough to be permanently located in the festival district. So, we’ve created some space there during the HanseKulturFestival. Visit the stalls of Lübeck's associations and clubs, who present themselves on one of the main festival streets. Each club has come up with very special activities to help you experience their work. Many of them do charitable work on a voluntary basis and look forward to sharing their passion with you.
